PROBATE IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON
Probate, in plain language, is the administration of a deceased person’s assets. While there are ways to avoid probate, a probate will be necessary for most people who pass.
Most probates follow the same four steps. First, the personal representative, or executor, is appointed to administrate the estate. Second, the personal representative will take an inventory of the deceased person’s assets. Third, and while inventory is being taken, a notice is sent to creditors saying they have four months to file a claim or they lose their chance. Fourth and finally, an accountant files any tax returns, and the assets are distributed to their intended recipients: according to the will if there was a will, or according to the laws of intestacy if there was no will.
This all may seem like a lot, but we are here to help every step of the way, and make sure the process is as smooth as it can be.
We look forward to meeting you, and bringing you peace of mind!
